Meet Our Professional Team!
It does not matter what you are going through. When you are open to doing the work, we empower and transform.
Here is what it looks like to be honest about one's mental health and life challenges. Counseling is a conversation about you, and you are an expert on you. In counseling, I add to the conversation by teaching you healthy ways of living and being. Let's converse.
Hi, I'm Dr. D,
For more years than I care to admit, I was stuck in a cycle of trauma, to the point where I ended up re-traumatizing myself. I broke free from the traumatic fears rooted in my sexually, emotionally, and physically abusive past. I transformed toxic behaviors and relationships that once fueled my fear of abandonment. I now use assertive communication and behaviors (thus the name Azz-ert Urself!), both personally and professionally, to maintain healthy boundaries and express my needs in relationships.
As the founder of Azz-ert Urself! Inc., I leverage my years of experience, training, and clinical research to help my clients get "unstuck" from the mental barriers shaped by their own traumatic pasts. Despite leading comfortable lifestyles and having high discretionary income, many of my clients struggle to fully engage in their intimate relationships, resulting in mood disorders and emotional distress in their personal and professional lives.
I work with Type-A middle-aged professionals and executives who, despite their outward success, face significant challenges in showing up authentically and meaningfully in their relationships. My therapeutic approach is focused on helping you overcome these obstacles, build healthier self-esteem, and achieve a more balanced and fulfilling life.
I am here to assist you in rewriting your story and feeling better sooner. If you’re ready to work through these challenges and create a more satisfying and authentic life, let’s begin this journey together.

I am an integral part of the Azz-ert Urself! Inc. as a licensed Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy. I earned an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University and a B.A. from Norfolk State University. My journey with the team has been marked by growth and leadership, having been promoted twice since joining and now leading other interns in our Internship Program. I am experienced in both family services and intensive in-home counseling, and I specialize in assisting couples and families.
Individuals and couples who typically seek to work with me are between the ages of 25-45, and they are either parents or planning to start a family. My clients are often navigating significant life transitions, such as parenting challenges, career changes, or shifts in their relationships. They come from diverse or cross-cultural backgrounds and may be dealing with issues related to cultural identity or family conflicts.
Additionally, some of my clients are working through intergenerational trauma and are committed to breaking unhealthy patterns inherited from their families. They focus on setting healthy boundaries, especially within their family relationships. Common therapeutic goals include:
- Healing from intergenerational trauma
- Establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries
- Managing life transitions effectively
- Balancing the preservation of cultural values with emotional well-being
What sets me apart is my deep understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds. This knowledge allows me to address multicultural challenges head-on, helping my clients navigate social and cultural influences to improve their overall well-being. I support my clients and team with grace and compassion, leading with my heart while applying theory and practical solutions.
My mission is simple: to empower my clients to thrive through adversity. I am currently accepting new clients and conducting PREPARE / ENRICH workshops for couples seeking greater fulfillment, intimacy, trust, and connection in their relationships.
I’m a 41-year-old Spanish-speaking Latina who has spent much of my life deeply connected to both my heritage and the military community. Originally from California, I hold a BA in Religious Studies and an MA in Human Services Counseling. I’m currently pursuing an MA in Clinical and Mental Health, with the goal of becoming licensed.
As the wife of a 20-year United States Marine Corps veteran, I’ve had the unique experience of living in Japan for many years and relocating frequently due to military life. This journey, alongside raising our five children (aged 6 to 15), has given me a personal understanding of the challenges military families face. From navigating deployments to transitioning between military and civilian life, I’ve lived through it all, and these experiences fuel my passion for supporting others on similar paths.
I focus on helping military spouses and families adapt to new roles, manage career transitions, and build stronger family connections. My work is centered around guiding individuals through life changes while emphasizing both personal growth and family well-being. As a proud Latina, I also have a special dedication to supporting Spanish-speakers, women, families, and children.
In my free time, I enjoy DIY projects, painting, reading, coffee meetups, and participating in Bible studies. Through all of this, my goal is to empower individuals to embrace their journey, thrive in their roles, and find strength in the challenges they face.
